The Peace Corps

I was nominated for the Peace Corps two weeks ago to be a volunteer working on HIV/AIDS in Botswana! My interview went very well and at the end she let me choose between Botswana and Guatemala. This new policy of giving volunteers a few options was a wonderful surprise. Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and start blogging about my experience now that I have a nomination. I understand that I still have to pass all the health and security and that my location and job could still be changed at any minute, but it's hard not to get excited. Joining the Peace Corps is something I started thinking about in high school and I can't believe it's actually happening now. I submitted my application in October; they are not kidding when they say the joining takes around a year. Right now I'm supposed to leave in August.
I find it really helpful to read the blogs of other Peace Corps volunteers while going through this process, so hopefully my blog will help the next excited volunteer who plans to go to Botswana!
That's all for now.
